Beginning 1/1/2023, CVS Caremark will support Blue Cross of MA in managing pharmacy services.
Beginning January 1, 2023, you will have access to 66,000 nationwide network pharmacies to fill your prescriptions. Your pharmacy program provides coverage for over 4,000 prescription medications. The pharmacy program formulary is based on a tiered cost share structure. When you fill a prescription, the amount you pay the pharmacy (your prescription cost share) is determined by the tier your medication is on. Medications are placed on tiers according to a variety of factors, including what they are used for, their cost, and whether equivalent or alternative medications are available. The pharmacy will advise you of the amount you owe.
The change to a new pharmacy benefit manager will mean few or no changes for most members, as the prescription medications we cover and the terms of the coverage will remain the same for most medications. Also, most of the current network pharmacies will remain in-network. If you’re going to be affected by the change, Blue Cross Blue Shield will notify you by mail in November and will provide information to guide you through any action you may need to take.
ID Card Information
Your digital Blue Cross Blue Shield ID card will be updated to include a new BIN, PCN, and Group as of January 1, 2023. These enhancements will be made to MyBlue on 1/1, so the new pharmacy information will automatically transfer over. It’s very important to present your new member ID card to your pharmacy for any prescriptions you need filled on or after January 1, 2023. If you present an old ID card, the pharmacy will not be able to use this and it will prevent you from filling your prescriptions. If you do not have a digital ID card, please download one through the MyBlue member app.
Below is the information the pharmacy will need:
ID Number: Your Blue Cross Blue Shield ID number that begins with HVA.
BIN: 004336
PCN: ADV
GROUP: RX22MA
