Change in Dental Plan Type Policy and Application

If you enrolled in the optional dental plan, you may be eligible to change from the dental plan in which you initially enrolled to the other dental plan option (preventive plan to comprehensive plan or vice versa) if you meet the criteria below:

  • No services were used under your current plan AND
  • A change in plan type application must be received within five days of submitting your original dental application.
  • The day your application is submitted (online or by email) is considered your application submitted date.
  • Coverage of the new plan will be effective retroactively back to the effective date of your original plan choice for the current plan year.
  • Processing can take up to 5-10 business days
  • A credit or an additional fee for the differences in plan types will be applied to your student account within 10-20 business days
  • Re-enrollment back into your original plan choice will not be an option once this application is submitted
  • Dependents will be enrolled in the same plan type as the student
  • Appeals to this policy will not be considered

If you submitted a dental plan enrollment application on August 1, and you decide you want to change the plan type that you elected to enroll in, you will have five days from the day that you submitted your dental application to request a change in plan type.

This means we must receive your request to change the plan type by August 6th (this is five days). If your application is received on August 7 (6 days after you submitted your original enrollment application), your request to change plan type will not be processed.

Once this change request is submitted, you will not be eligible to make any additional changes. Appeals to this policy will not be considered.
